We do component cleaning on a wide variety of parts, but we have a more specific program for carburetors. We clean all types of carbs. However, our restoration services are primarily for Bing and Dellorto components. We routinely have rebuild parts in stock for several models and can turn the work around quickly. If you just need the Basic Clean, we can often have them on their way back to you within 24 hours at no additional cost. See more details about our individual programs:
CURRENT MAILORDER SERVICE SPECIAL Please Note : We usually require a deposit on some ultrasonic cleaning work. We typically do not schedule the work until a deposit is received. The balance is always due to us prior to the shipping or pick up of items. "MY CARBS LOOK JUST FINE" We hear this all the time. You really can't assume your carbs are in proper working order because they have been cleaned up on the outside. The most common thing people say when bringing a poorly running bike in for service is, " the carbs were just cleaned by the last mechanic that worked on the bike". To date, 99% of the carbs that we have received have not been cleaned or rebuilt, even thought someone apparently paid for it at their last service. You can't tell by the appearance of your carbs how they are operating. It can often be a clue as to well looked after they have been, but is no indication of their function. They may look stunning on the outside, and still be contaminated and blocked on the inside. Unless your carbs have been properly and completely disassembled and cleaned using the correct methods, your carbs might not as well have been cleaned at all. It is very much an all or nothing proposition. "I SPRAYED THEM WITH CLEANER AND THEY STILL DON'T WORK" A spray of carb cleaner is usually suitable for cleaning some newer jets and needles, and is often a necessary first step to a proper cleaning as well. However, carb cleaner often does not get into the areas that it needs to reach in order to ensure proper functionality of circuits like would be found in many choke systems. Also, many people do not disassemble carbs before they spray cleaner in them, which renders most seals and o-rings useless. DO THINGS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME Time is money. Sometimes, spending the money to have things done right can save you seemingly endless amounts of trial and error frustration. It is possible to fiddle with your carbs for extended periods of time and still not get them properly cleaned, unless you have the right equipment. We prefer not to use carb 'dip' on the majority of carbs that we deal with. There are a few makes that will allow it without issue, but we prefer a safer method. Also, unless you have invested a great deal of money and time into proper ultrasonic cleaning equipment, you can often just compound the problems, making them worse rather than better. They will 'look' clean, but have deposits in the internal areas that you can not see. Also, inexpensive jewelry cleaners really only drive the containments in further. It requires a combination of expereinced know-how with an industrial ultrasonic unit that has a proper frequency sweep and heat cycle to see the amazing benefits this type of cleaning can provide.
